In order to enter or travel to the United States, you need to apply for an ESTA Visa. The ESTA Visa is basically a pre-screening tool that is used to determine whether a person is eligible for entry into the United States. This said, an ESTA USA Visa is not a guarantee of entry into the country and it is still up to the border officials at your port of entry to decide whether you will be allowed into the US.
Before applying for an ESTA Visa, you will need to fulfill the following requirements:
1. Country Of Origin
You must have a passport from a formerly USA visa exempt country. The list of countries can be found on the official ESTA website.
2. Electronic Passport
You will need an electronic passport which contains a chip on which the ESTA Visa will be loaded. Make sure that your passport is valid (has not expired) when making application and that it will still be valid for the period of travel.
3. Biographic Passport
Your passport will also need to have a biographic page which contains all your personal information such as your name, date of birth, national identity number, passport number, etc.
4. Application Form
You will be required to complete and submit an ESTA USA application form online so you will need access to a computer, laptop, mobile device and the internet.
5. Email Address
Confirmation (or denial) of your ESTA visa will be sent to an email address so you will need a valid email address. You will not need to print the confirmation and carry it with you when traveling to the USA. Remember that the visa information is loaded onto the electronic chip in your passport so you do not need a paper copy of the visa.
